Things to Compare
When Buying Wrought Iron Fence
- There are some distinct differences in the wrought iron fence quality and
construction. When comparing wrought iron fences note the size of the picket offered.
Though most companies offer many sizes, their standard is usually 1/2”.
Vandals or lawn mowers can bend these rods relatively easily. Our
wrought iron
fences are built of 5/8” rods, which though they are only 1/8” thicker,
are nearly unbendable.
- Another aspect to examine is whether the wrought iron fence price includes finials
that top the pickets. Finials are included in all prices quoted on Canby
Iron Works. We have two standard styles of finials with others available
if requested.
- Our wrought iron fence utilizes a 1 1/2” channel for the horizontal rail
where most companies use a one-inch.
- Our standard 2” line post is also a good point of comparison. They
are made from the heaviest (1/4” wall) tube available in that size. Some
companies may use the thinner wall post. We believe our thicker post will
ensure generations of service and strength.
- We also offer a 4” post often used for corners, gates and end posts.
These wider posts sport an ornate rosette attached to the front and
back. Corner posts have a rosette on all four sides. These stout posts
are also 1/4” thick square tubing and are some times used as end posts
in a high traffic area to prevent damage to the fence from cars cutting
corners in alleys, etc.
- Our wrought iron posts come with a cast iron ball as a standard
top. The ball is securely welded on all four sides another point to look
at when shopping for iron fence.
- This site shows our standard models and sizes. Other styles and sizes
are available; built with the same heavy quality materials and
workmanship.
- Nearly all models of Canby Iron Fence can be graded to
allow for a slope.
